Chair: Daria

Hi! I’m Daria, a second-year anthropology student with a minor in development studies. I initially joined the LIT Society because the amount of reading I had to do for university put me in a reading slump, although I had always been passionate about books :(. Being part of a book club is so nice for keeping yourself accountable and motivated to continue reading – I’ve gotten to meet some cool people along the way and discover books I probably would’ve never picked up myself! I’ve been the chair since February 2024 and am excited to get creative with our meetings this year. Feel free to reach out for more info!

Do you enjoy reading books and discussing them with fellow literature enthusiasts? The LIT Society, SIB Amsterdam’s book club, is the perfect place for you! We typically meet once a month to discuss a book we’ve read together and vote on the next month’s selection. This year, we’re excited to expand our activities to include book swaps and attending themed events in Amsterdam, such as storytelling nights and book presentations. We welcome all your ideas and look forward to your participation!

The LIT Society aims to provide a medium for its members to share their interest in literature with their fellow members, creating a close and friendly discussion environment. Therefore, the total member count of the society is lower compared to other societies, with only twelve members. However, there are always spots getting available! If you want to learn more about the society or add you name to the wating list, contact us via email at litsociety@sibamsterdam.nl
