How Dutch political parties approach future concerns: common grounds and differences when discussing controversial topics

  • SIB Amsterdam 170 Nieuwe Achtergracht Amsterdam, NH, 1018 WV Netherlands (map)

In this event, we aim to give you an in-depth overview of the political programs of different Dutch political parties by inviting them as our guest speakers. Hereby, we find it very important to include political parties from the full voters' spectrum (left- and right-winged political parties). The parties D66, PvdA, CDA and JONG will attend this event!

We provide a platform that discusses different perspectives to strive for a more connected society. This is not a political debate, but an event that aims to seek connection and giving an overview of the different parties' perspectives on important matters. With that, we want to be a force against polarization and media bubbles.

After the political parties have all shortly introduced their political program for the 2021 elections in March, we will continue our event by discussing several controversial topics. These topics are ranging from education and the affordable housing problem to EU cooperation and corona approaches to polarization, racism, and our Dutch ideals. Hereby, we compare the motivations of the different parties where we tend to focus on detecting common grounds since we think it is important to respect each other’s opinion in a society that is affected by polarization. Of course, politics are not politics if we look away from different perspectives, so we will also take a close look at the differences in approaches of the parties.
