CIA Lecture: Marine Protection and Reforestation with Costa Rican Ambassador Arnoldo Brenes Castro

  • CREA Amsterdam 170 Nieuwe Achtergracht Amsterdam, NH, 1018 WV Netherlands (map)

Would you like to know more about what it is like when a country is successful in sustainably managing its natural areas? This lecture will focus on some of Costa Rica’s environmental policies, namely marine conservation and reforestation. For the former, you will hear about Costa Rica’s extension of marine protection areas in the Eastern Pacific Corridor, in cooperation with other Latin American countries of Panama, Colombia and Ecuador. We will also address how Costa Rica reversed deforestation and recovered trees, very relevant to climate change concerns.

Our speaker for this lecture is Arnoldo Brenes Castro, Ambassador of Costa Rica to the Netherlands, who has a rich experience in international negotiations and will also introduce his professional career as a diplomat. As always, you will also have the opportunity to ask Ambassador Brenes any questions you may have.

The lecture is on June 13th at the CREA Theater hall, and starts at 20:00.
