Asia has always played a central role in international politics, but how does this translate to today’s political world? For our Spring Introduction week lecture in February, we have invited Tjeerd Ritmeester, an UvA alumnus, who works in Dutch politics as well as forthat the Clingendael Insitute. Mr. Ritmeester specializes in diplomatic practices, and economic and sustainable development in the Asian region. He will focus his lecture on the major power rivalry between the US and China, as well as the role of ASEAN in ‘Indo-Pacific’ countries. The discussion will further go into the impact of these main themes on the European Union and its relations with Asian countries. Join us for an interesting lecture!
