Hello, my name is Chiara. I am a half Dutch and German student of European politics and external relations at the University of Amsterdam. I have been living in Amsterdam for 3 years now, and I am excited to chair the Dionysus committee this coming year! I really enjoy cooking and trying out some of the many recipes I have saved. I work in a wine store, and am happy to organise a wine tasting or curate the perfect cocktail to go with our monthly themed dinner parties. All you have to do is be inspired by our theme, bring a dish, and enjoy a night filled with nice food, nice people and interesting conversation!
Welcome to Dionysus! We are the wine and food society. If you like wine, food, and good company then this is the place for you!
In Greek mythology, Dionysus is the god of grape harvest, wine making and wine. Wine played an important part in Greek society, as it does in ours. You can really tell a lot about a region or country just by the food they prepare and the wine they drink!
Once every month we meet as a society, choosing a region or country as a theme. We cook dishes based on the chosen theme and make sure there is enough wine to go around. One member hosts in their home, and every member of the society makes a dish; then we enjoy a nice evening eating it (with the appropriate wines included).
In addition to these meals, we sometimes also organize other activities such as wine tastings and cooking workshops.
