Literature Society
Chair : Matheus Skinner Pinheiro Machado
Hello! My name is Matheus and I’m a second-year PPLE law major. If you’re looking for a community where you can discuss themes across different literature, the Lit Society might be the place for you! A group of around 10-15 students from all courses have the opportunity to meet every other week to discuss books, connect them with ongoing debates and world events, while still enjoying warm cups of coffee and other special events. The book club takes different approaches: sometimes everyone reads a single book, and other times everyone brings a different book to address a controversial topic. But all in all, we’re always going to be revolving around the month’s theme. Most importantly, we focus on contemporary literature from all over the world, so if you’re in search of an intellectual trip that will foster ideas and help you discover horizons, you’re for sure going to enjoy being a part of this community!
Do you enjoy reading books and discussing them with fellow literature enthusiasts?
The LIT Society, SIB Amsterdam’s book club, is the perfect place for you!
We typically meet once a month to discuss a book we’ve read together and vote on the next month’s selection. This year, we’re excited to expand our activities to include book swaps and attending themed events in Amsterdam, such as storytelling nights and book presentations. We welcome all your ideas and look forward to your participation!
The LIT Society aims to provide a medium for its members to share their interest in literature with their fellow members, creating a close and friendly discussion environment. Therefore, the total member count of the society is lower compared to other societies, with only twelve members. However, there are always spots getting available! If you want to learn more about the society or add you name to the waiting list, contact us via email at litsociety@sibamsterdam.nl
