The Committee External Activities (CEA) is the SIB committee that organises visits to internationally-oriented organizations, opening doors for our members that remain closed to others! We do this in the Netherlands, but also abroad during the various SIB travels.
In recent years we have visited the Turkish and Ukrainian Embassy in the Netherlands. Furthermore, we have been at Amnesty International, the Left Think Tank Transnational Institute, the Iran – United States Claims Tribunal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Scientology Church and the press freedom organization FreeVoice. Also during the SIB travel we provide an in-depth program. For example, we visited various UN departments, such as the FAO in Rome and the ILO in China, as well as the Dutch embassies in both Washington and Beijing. In addition, we have visited Human Right Watch in New York, the Washington Office on Latin America, focusing on drug issues in Latin America, and NATO and the European Commission in Belgium.
Every two weeks, the committee discusses the upcoming activities while enjoying a drink and/or snack. This way we combine togetherness with organising the activities, as well as getting to know your fellow committees in this way.
